WHAT IF... WE MIX MEXICO AND FRANCE?

Now, Mexican embroideries, called Tenangos are very fashionable. This type of pattern is inspired by Otomi embroidery and comes from tapestries from a region of Mexico called Tenango, just under 200 km from the city and Mexico. The women of the area draw and weave these embroideries from ancestral times. Through these drawings, they tell us their history, culture and traditions and they are made manually or in simple looms with naturally dyed threads.

It is said that they began to do it in the 60's since that city was going through a strong economic crisis due to a bad harvest due to the drought. The embroidery women decided to sell embroidered shirts. But at first, the buyers did not want to pay the real price of those products but soon they became very famous.

One of the brands that has made them fashionable is Hermès. Due to its success, the French fashion house offered the artisans to install workshops and buy blankets and threads but they preferred to continue working in their homes. They used the money to improve the local school.
